Following Jesus

Following Jesus is the start of a whole new life that we cannot do alone, it’s meant to be done together. That’s why we say “Follow Jesus with us.”

How do I follow Jesus?

“Repent, Believe and Be Baptized” this is the ancient way the Scriptures describe following Jesus.

  • Repent literally means to “turn around” and start walking in the opposite direction. Every one of us is lost, Jesus says, and can’t find our way home to Him. Repentance is the recognition that the things we are doing in our lives need to change so we can follow the way Jesus is going.

  • Believe just means that we not only agree intellectually with what and who Jesus is but we begin to put his way of life into action in our own life. We call these actions practices and they help us shape our lives into the way of Jesus’ life. The practices don’t make us better than other people, but they open us up to God’s work in us to be transformed to be like Jesus.

  • Baptism is the sign of entry into the life of Church that Jesus himself commanded us to do for all who choose to follow Him. Baptism is sometimes confusing and is practiced very differently in various Christian traditions.
