Belief and Practice
Mission
Following Jesus for the sake of the Highlands.
Our church is made up of people from all walks of life who want to follow Jesus, become like Jesus, and do the things Jesus did. Not for our own sake, but for the sake of our neighbors all over the Highlands of New Jersey.
We work to be an outward focused church community that is involved and present in our neighborhoods and towns all over the Highlands so we can be a part of what God is doing in people’s lives at any given time.
Vision
We are a church being transformed by the Presence of Jesus, as we Practice His ways for the sake of the people in His world.
This big vision is what we are dreaming of and what will help us accomplish our mission. We really believe Jesus changes everything as we practice His ways for the sake of others. This vision allows us to live by a set of “postures” to help us live into our vision and mission.
Postures
pos·ture: “a particular way of dealing with or considering something; an approach or attitude.”
In order to live into our mission and vision well, our church has taken up three postures that define how we follow Jesus and navigate the challenges of life. We ask ourselves, “are we really doing these things?” As a way of helping us follow Jesus more faithfully for the sake of His world.
Presence Based
We live dependent on the presence and power of Jesus to transform us and lead us in all things.
Practice Shaped
We commit to a way of life which Jesus gave us that shapes our love for God and others.
People Driven
We live intentionally for the sake of others, no matter who they are, so that they can meet Jesus too.
